How can I renew my driver's license as a person over 75?

If your driver’s license expires on or after age 75 and you wish to renew it, you must undergo a medical examination. To do this, you must complete a Health Declaration. It is best to pick this up 4 to 5 months before you turn 75, to prevent your driver’s license from expiring.

This is how to renew your driver’s license as a 75-year-old:

  1. Complete a Health Statement in
In it you answer questions about your health, such as what medications you are taking. Processing your Health Declaration is faster if you fill it out digitally via my.cbr.nl, than on paper. Also, digital processing is less prone to error.
  2. Make an appointment with an examining doctor
You will receive notice from the CBR stating that you need to make an appointment with an examining doctor. Bring to your appointment all forms from the CBR. Do you have a medical condition? Like an eye condition or epilepsy? Then you will also visit a medical specialist.
  3. Get your health examined
The doctor will examine your health and fill out the necessary forms. If the doctor does this online, the forms will automatically reach the CBR. If the doctor completes paper forms, you will send them to the CBR yourself.
  4. CBR reviews your application
A CBR doctor reviews all the information and determines whether you are still fit to drive (fit to drive). Sometimes a driving test or additional medical information is required. Then you will receive another referral to a doctor and another assessment by the CBR will follow.
  5. Renewing Your License
If the CBR agrees and you are fit to drive, you can renew your license at your local municipality.
